Meet Hayer takes oath as Lok Sabha member

New Delhi : Lok Sabha Member elected from Sangrur Parliamentary Constituency and Aam Aadmi Party leader Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer took oath as Member of Lok Sabha in Parliament today. On the occasion Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann along with parents and wife of Meet Hayer were present in the parliament complex.
Meet Hayer took oath in Punjabi. After taking the oath, Meet Hayer also raised the slogan of ‘Inqulab Zindabaad’ and ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ while paying homage to the freedom fighters, farmers and soldiers of the country. 35-year-old Meet Hayer won this Lok Sabha election on Aam Aadmi Party ticket by defeating his nearest rival Sukhpal Singh Khaira of Congress with a margin of 1,72,560 votes.
This was his first Lok Sabha election. Before this, he was elected MLA twice consecutively from Barnala Vidhan Sabha constituency in 2017 and 2022. From the year 2022, he was serving as a cabinet minister in the state government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Meet Hayer’s native village is Kurd (Chapa) of Mahal Kalan constituency in Barnala district and he is a resident of Barnala city. After completing his schooling at Barnala, he did Mechanical Engineering at Swami Vivekananda Institute of Engineering and Technology (SVIET) Banur.
He was preparing for the Civil Services Examination when he joined the movement led by Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal and then he became the founder member of the Aam Aadmi Party. Meet Hayer was also the president of Aam Aadmi Party’s youth wing.
Apart from remaining cabinet minister incharge of the Sports and Youth Services, Water Resources, Mining, Higher Education and Languages, School Education, Administrative Reforms, Environment, Science and Technology and Printing and Stationery departments, Meet Hayer is also a good cricket and badminton player. He is very interested in environmental conservation and social work.

ਸੰਗਰੂਰ ਸੰਸਦੀ ਹਲਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਗੁਰਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਸੰਸਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸਹੁੰ ਚੁੱਕੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸੰਸਦ ਭਵਨ ਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹੁੰ ਚੁੱਕੀ। ਸਹੁੰ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਘੁਲਾਟੀਆ, ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਜਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ‘ਇਨਕਲਾਬ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾਬਾਦ’, ਤੇ ‘ਜੈ ਜਵਾਨ, ਜੈ ਕਿਸਾਨ’ ਦਾ ਨਾਅਰਾ ਵੀ ਬੁਲੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ। 35 ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਟਿਕਟ ਉਤੇ ਸੰਗਰੂਰ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜਲੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਸੁਖਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ 1,72,560 ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਰਕ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।
ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਹ 2017 ਤੇ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਸਾਲ 2022 ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ. ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਤੌਰ ਕੈਬਨਿਟ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਦਾ ਜੱਦੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਕਲਾਂ ਹਲਕੇ ਦਾ ਕੁਰੜ (ਛਾਪਾ) ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਦਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਵਸਨੀਕ ਹੈ। ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਕੂਲੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਸਵਾਮੀ ਵਿਵੇਕਾਨੰਦ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਊਟ ਆਫ਼ ਇੰਜਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਐਂਡ ਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਬਨੂੜ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਕਨੀਕਲ ਇੰਜਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਪਾਸ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਸਿਵਲ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਸਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਅੰਨਾ ਹਜ਼ਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਅਰਵਿੰਦ ਕੇਜਰੀਵਾਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢਲੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਬਣ ਗਏ। ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਯੂਥ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਰਹੇ।
ਕੈਬਨਿਟ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਤੇ ਯੁਵਕ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ, ਜਲ ਸਰੋਤ, ਖਣਨ, ਉਚੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ, ਸਕੂਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਕੀ ਸੁਧਾਰ, ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ, ਸਾਇੰਸ ਤੇ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਟਿੰਗ ਤੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਰੀ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੀਤ ਹੇਅਰ ਕਿ੍ਰਕਟ ਤੇ ਬੈਡਮਿੰਟਨ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਕੰਮਾਂ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਤੇ ਪਸਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਲਤੂ ਜਾਨਵਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਰੁੱਚੀ ਹੈ।
